I am a fashion historian, theorist, and writer based in London. My work uncovers and amplifies the overlooked histories of Afro-Latina and Caribbean women, using fashion as a lens to examine cultural identity, resistance, and the legacies of colonialism. I draw on decolonial theory to question dominant narratives within fashion history and aim to center the voices that have been pushed to its margins. Clothing, in my research, becomes a form of storytelling, one that carries meaning where written history often falls short.
My practice moves across writing and film. The archive runs through all of it, as something I draw from and something I question. Garments and images often hold what the written record misses. I turn to oral history for the same reason, to recover stories that were never written down. Fashion, in this work, is never only a study of aesthetics. It's a way of understanding how people have asserted identity and dignity under conditions designed to deny both.
